Road trip!
Highway 97 is the longest continuous north-south highway in North America, stretching more than 2,000 miles. It starts at the Yukon border in British Columbia, Canada, travels through Washington and Oregon, and extends to Weed, California. The drive takes you around mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts and switches from a two-lane road to a six-lane highway.
This summer my granddaughter, Kita, and I explored a few hundred miles of Highway 97 — the section closest to the Seattle area. Read on for details on our adventures and how to plan your own.
