Kindful Arts

Calendar/Event Details

Make a unique handmade gift for someone special!  Father's Day is right around the corner, surprise him with this heartfelt present!  Each participant will take home 2 handmade, heartfelt projects.  Attend a Modern Madhubani Art Class (Indian Folk Art) and complete a 2nd project of unique Copper Art (Mexican Folk Art)!  Included in the price will be entertainment from a balloon artist and a musician for this fun-filled event!

- Madhubani, or Mithila, painting is a folk painting of northern India. Art forms are usually pictures of nature and mythology to depict different events.  Though this folk art has been practiced for centuries it started to gain national recognition only in the last few decades.  Come create your own Madhubani Art with a modern twist, with adaptation using markers and pens for ease and to accommodate students of any age!

- Metal tooling is a Mexican folk art!  Between seven and ten thousand years ago, our early ancestors discovered that copper is malleable, a  discovery that would change humanity forever. This meeting of humans and metals would be the first step out of the Stone Age and into the ages of metals: the Bronze and Iron Ages.  Copper was used for many things including art.  People would use tools to draw on the art creating beautiful embossed and impressioned artwork!

You are welcome to sign up for one of the 2 Sessions for this event:

This event will benefit Camp Kindness Counts. CKC empowers kids to feel that their thoughts, voice, and actions matter and can make a positive impact in their communities and the world. Through community service, activities that encourage kindness, and by bringing awareness through mindfulness exercises, kids are inspired to be confident, curious and lead with kindness. They have a personal and social impact by building a culture of kindness and compassion, not just as leaders but KIND leaders.
