Friday, February 18 marks one year (for us on Earth) since Perseverance and Ingenuity landed on Mars. We are celebrating with a weekend full of anniversary events, family activities, lectures, special guests and more!

Saturday, February 19 – Family Day!

  • 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM – Chat with NASA Experts
    Bring your questions about Perseverance, Ingenuity and the Mars2020 Mission.
  • 11:00 AM – Mars Planetarium Show (30 min)
    Explore Mars in this virtual Planetarium experience led by a Museum Educator.
  • 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM – Hands-on Family Activities
    • Make-and-Take: Perseverance – Make your own paper rover!
    • Make-and-Take: Ingenuity – Make your own paper whirligig!
    • Design A Mission Patch: presented by our Washington Aerospace Scholar Alums
    • Challenger Learning Center activities
    • Take-Home Activity Packet – Includes: fun activities, a birthday hat, birthday dessert recipe and more!
    • Don’t forget to grab a FREE Percy or Ingenuity button!
  • 2:30 PM – Mars Planetarium Show (30 min)

  • 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM – Perseverance & Ingenuity with Dr. Melissa Rice
    Join Dr. Melissa Rice from the Perseverance science team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as she talks about the Mars2020 rover Mission and her personal experience as a Co-Investigator for the Mastcam-Z investigation currently in development for the mission.
