Seattle Festival Orchestra Family Concert: ‘Our Place in this World’

Calendar/Event Details

Journey into the rainforest with the Seattle Festival Orchestra and explore themes of fate, magic and mimicry at their winter concert, Our Place in This World. The Saturday, March 9th performance is a special family friendly show that is shorter in duration and geared to maximize the enjoyment of younger audience members while providing a fulfilling musical program for the whole family. Kid noises and dancing are welcome.

Music Director Bobby Collins continues this year’s theme of featuring new music and young soloists with Parrot in the Rainforest by Korean composer SiHyun Uhm and Seattle soloist Bhavani Kotha playing Hadyn’s Oboe Concerto. Completing the program is Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony of which the composer said, “Ought it not to express all those things for which words cannot be found but which nevertheless arise in the heart and cry out for expression”.

Seattle Festival Orchestra is an all-volunteer community orchestra that presents concerts to delight and engage a 21st century audience. With diverse programming, SFO creates space for its audience to experience catharsis in the wide range of emotions available in orchestra music, to feel with our musicians the joy, sorrow, wonder and ecstasy of our art.
