Lunar New Year and Spring Festival begin with the first new moon of the lunar calendar on February 1 and ends on the first full moon, 15 days later. This year ushers in Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese Zodiac. Learn about the background of the holiday and crafts you can do at home.

Supplies Needed
Download and print out the Tiger Mask Template and Spring Template before the program, or stop by Newcastle Library during open hours to pick up pre-printed templates.
Lantern Craft: (12) red envelopes or 7”x3.5” pre-cut red papers, clear tape, string, optional beads to decorate
Tiger Mask: Tiger template, scissors, 2 rubber band, markers
Lucky Spring: Spring template printed in red paper (or color on your own), scissors, glue.
