OWL (Offer of Wise-Minded Learning): Family Supper Club
Making meals meaningful learning experiences
Every teen should learn how to plan, cook and host nutritious meals. This week, start your own family supper club. Negotiate the night, the shopping, and the meal plan — but make it fun. Decide who they get to invite over, and whether your child’s friends are in on the cooking process. Maybe get your own friend to teach them how to make pasta or sushi. Or take turns deciding on a theme for dinner — and even simple decorations and special music. The goal is make this so much fun that they don’t notice all of the good bonding going on (say nothing of the good nutrition!). Hopefully, you’ll start a ritual that they’ll want to engage in for the long term.
