How to Create a Family Study Hall
Enough of cave dwelling!
This week, tell your family that for an hour every night, family members will share time in the same room while they do homework together. You can negotiate earphones for music, what will be served for snacks and who gets the couch, but the idea is that you are experimenting with connecting through shared space, even if you are not talking. Parents can read, catch up on bills or do their email; it’s a time for silent camaraderie and keeping kids company while they face the dreaded pile of homework. Tell them it is for one week only, but that you are experimenting with community planning in the household. If they have other ideas for that agenda, listen up!
